Having found a really cheap ticket straight to Tangiers from Tarifa, open return, we head to the port to even find they can stick us on the earlier boat. Then on the other side they wave us through with a smile and we are into Tangiers in ten minutes. Easier than we thought...
After a little bit of lunch in the old town, we arrange to meet up with Ahmed, a mercedes mechanic that Ayesha met in Barcelona while preparing the van. He is on holiday with his family in Tangiers and has said that he could arrange for us an unbelievably cheap respray for the van with a friend. goodbye Black, hello "Taxi Tangiers" - light and colorful and far cooler in the sun.
On top of this, Ahmed incredibly invites us to stay at his house while the van is being worked on, and we spend a fascinating evening talking to him and his family about life in Tangiers, Barcelona, and bask in his amazing hospitality. He even takes a moment to fix a couple of nagging errors with the motor and the van is purring like a cat. We cannot believe our luck. His daughter Manal shows us the 360 degree views from their roof over Tangiers as the sun goes down and we film some snippets for our collection.
