Day 31, 32 Sefrou

After hectic Fes, we head to Sefrou to meet Jess, an artist friend who runs a cultural association called Culture Vultures. She cooks a wonderful meal for us and tells us of her experiences living in Morocco.

She arranges for us to record with Siross, a local musician and a real character. We meet with him the next day and record some arabic flute and Oud, with views over the rooftops of Sefrou from the yellow ochre terrace of the hotel we are staying at. Siros finds the rhythm of the track initially a bit challenging (there is an odd cajon sample in the mix), and its interesting to see him respond to a musical style he hasn't worked with before. But within one listen he has it and on the subsequent takes he nails it down perfectly.
